Wedding Planning- First Steps
One of the first steps when planning a wedding is to pick a date. Something that works for you two, your families, and any priority vendors. My fiancé Darren's request was to have the wedding in our hometown of Sedalia, MO., which I was okay with since I know so many vendors from Sedalia and so many friends and family members are from there. Once I cleared the date with my top photographer and top venues, we got the plans rolling!
Sedalia Wedding Venues
There are SO many beautiful locations in Sedalia, MO. to get married at. It made my decision a little easier knowing that we would be getting married in the Winter though; so that eliminated the need to pick a location based on the outdoor scenery since most events, if not all, would be indoors.
What 'The Venue' offers
Firstly, THE PEOPLE. Getting to know the amazing family and seeing the owner, Michelle, in action myself, I knew it was priceless to have her be a part of the day. She is such a great resource for wedding planning advice and is just so helpful wherever it is needed. On top of running The Venue, she also offers wedding rentals and wedding decorating services; both are great additions that I like being able to utilize if necessary.
Photo backgrounds
Something that is very important to me is the quality of our family photos. It's a very rare occasion to get as many family members together as you can, dress up, and get priceless images. So having a great backdrop indoors and outdoors nearby if we can use it, was very reassuring. The string lights are great for our couples photos too if it's too cold for outdoor shots!
Couple's Photos
Your couples photos are going to be some of the most important and treasured photos of the day. These will be what you frame on your walls or pass down to generations. I knew exactly my favorite spots for couples photos at The Venue, but it does mean doing a 'first look' before the ceremony to achieve. Taking these photos before the ceremony while the venue is still fairly empty of guests will help the background stand out even more. I also really love the contrast that the dark ceilings has with the bright and beautiful string lights.
The Massive 'Getting Ready' Rooms
I've seen countless venues all over Missouri and The Venue's 'getting ready rooms' are some of the VERY best.
They each have:
-A large refrigerator in the rooms
-Beautiful sources of window light
-The guys room has a pool table, darts, a tv & the girls room has the most beautiful vanities and mirrors.
A few more perks that just sold me:
-The cool bar area that is equipped with a large cooler that can store two full size kegs or be use for beverage space
-Lounge area in loft
-Set up of the tables and chairs
-Clean up (except removing your trash and decor)
-A capacity for up to 250 guests
-Plenty of refrigerator space in the getting ready rooms and kitchen
-Playroom for kids
-Beautiful locations nearby for photos
-Easy parking
-Stage with arbor
Happy Wedding Planning!
